Moxi Recovery: What Your Skin May Look Like in the First Week

Moxi is often called a low-downtime laser treatment, but low downtime does not mean your skin will look unchanged the next morning. Redness, warmth, and a rough texture can be part of the first week. Your plan and treatment strength matter, so follow the instructions from your Toxxology provider over any general timeline.
The first 24 hours
Your skin may feel warm for a few hours after treatment, sometimes into the next day. You may see redness or some swelling, especially around the eyes. A cool compress may feel soothing. For a day or two, the mirror may show more of the treatment than you expected from the phrase "low downtime." That early look is not the final result.
Days 2-3: A rougher feel
Tiny dark spots or a bronzed look may appear around the second or third day. Skin can feel dry and almost like sandpaper as it works through the healing process. Resist the urge to scrub, pick, or peel. Use the gentle cleanser and moisturizer your provider recommends, and keep the treated skin out of direct sun.
Days 4-7: Let it shed on its own
The bronzed, dry texture may flake away over the following days. Redness can last up to about a week, depending on the treatment. Swelling, if it happens, often eases within roughly two to four days. You may be able to wear makeup after the first 24 hours if your provider agrees, but makeup cannot replace gentle care. What matters most is protecting the skin while it settles, not trying to make it peel faster.
Simple care through the week
Cleanse with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser starting the morning after treatment, unless your provider gives you different directions. Pat dry with a soft towel. Apply the moisturizer they recommend whenever skin feels dry. Avoid exfoliating brushes, scrubs, and active products that they have not cleared for you. Use a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen of at least SPF 30 starting the day after treatment and reapply when you are outdoors. A hat and shade help too. Hold off on strenuous workouts and heavy sweating for at least the first 24 hours or as your provider advises.
When to call
Contact your treating provider if swelling is excessive or you notice pus-like drainage, increasing warmth, fever, or extreme itching. Do not assume every new reaction is part of normal healing. If you are unsure whether your skin is following the expected course, check in rather than picking at it or adding new products.
